David Norris makes compensation point after new contract developments at Portsmouth
David Norris says there are multiple advantages to Portsmouth securing new contracts for John Mousinho and Rich Hughes.
The duo committed their respective futures to Fratton Park last month and work very closely together on the football side of the club’s operations, as Hughes masterminds recruitment.
Norris, speaking exclusively to Pompey News, has pointed out the financial plus point for the club after CEO Andy Cullen agreed extensions with the pair.
“It’s great news – I’ve always been a fan of Mousinho and the job he’s done since coming into his first head coach role,” he said.
“As for Hughes, I know a little less about him but Pompey fans don’t really have a bad word to say about him. He’s strong for the club.
“It benefits the club as well and puts them in a stronger position – if any rival clubs are interested in either of the pair, Portsmouth would receive a better compensation package.”
Portsmouth adding the building blocks
For Portsmouth to secure Mousinho and Hughes to new deals is a statement of long-term intent, with the club sticking to a plan rather than basing snap decisions on frustrating league results.

After an entire era of chaotic mismanagement which nearly cost Pompey their place in the EFL – or their outright existence for that matter – there is a stability in place under the Eisners.
Michael Eisner told the club website [20 September], that he believes in strong partnerships after the news was announced.
In other Portsmouth news, Mousinho explains the “harsh” dropping of Zak Swanson.
