Portsmouth need more experience as Matt Ritchie transfer perfect example – David Norris
David Norris admits Portsmouth could do with more experience in the squad as they look to secure their spot in the Championship.
The former Pompey midfielder did argue that early fixtures against bit-hitters have not helped, with game management needing to be better at Fratton Park.
John Mousinho’s Blues are the only Championship side without a win after nine games, though have faced all of the current top five in the table.
“The fixtures haven’t helped – I wouldn’t necessarily put it down to too much inexperience, but then I can’t really argue with it – there have been times when more experience would have been useful,” Norris exclusively told Pompey News.
“I think that might have been most welcome for a little bit more composure and game management late in matches when they’ve often conceded this season.
“Matt Ritchie was a good signing for the squad as he’s been there and done it, and I think they’ll be okay.”
Portsmouth have massive fixtures approaching
Now is the time for Portsmouth to prove their worth and show they can, at the very least, finish above three teams come May and avoid a dreaded return to League One.
Within the next week, the Blues face the two other clubs with whom they occupy the relegation places, QPR [19 October] and Cardiff City [22 October].
Marti Cifuentes’ QPR, who host the Blues this weekend, have not yet won at home with their only three-point haul coming at Luton Town back in August. They have lost their last three in the league and have accumulated just seven points.

As for basement boys Cardiff, they sit alongside Pompey on five points with Mousinho’s men maintaining a marginally superior goal difference – even after that night at Stoke.
Omer Riza is in caretaker charge following the sacking of Erol Bulut, with the Bluebirds’ sole win coming against Millwall on 1 October.
