David Prutton predicts Portsmouth result v Queens Park Rangers
Sky Sports host David Prutton has predicted Portsmouth to pick up their first win away at Queens Park Rangers on Saturday [19 October].
The former Southampton midfielder has backed his former rivals to snatch a 1-0 win at Loftus Road, with both clubs occupying the Championship relegation zone.
Pompey remain the only side in the division not to have picked up a win so far this season, although have taken five draws from nine.
Speaking on Sky’s Championship Predictions show with Simeon Gholam [17 October, 26:34], Prutton was asked by his co-host: “QPR against Portsmouth. Pompey are winless in their last 12 league visits to QPR – they haven’t won there since September 1961. What’s the score going to be?”
The pundit responded: “Do you know what? Pompey to win, 0-1.”
Portsmouth backed for away win to get off the mark
As with any Championship contest, it is very much all to play for but this one has the feel of a real 50/50 battle which could tilt in either direction.
John Mousinho’s Portsmouth may not have a win to their name as yet but will feel confident that they can get the ball rolling against a QPR side yet to take three points in front of their home support.
There is mixed injury news for the Blues in West London as Kusini Yengi nears a return, but Conor Shaughnessy and Jacob Farrell remain out for a respective period of weeks [Ian Wilding on X, 16 October].

Marti Cifuentes’ men will be equally uplifted in the belief they can secure a much-needed victory, having nabbed a 2-1 win at Luton Town on 30 August for their only league success so far in 2024-25.
Pompey must cut the naivety out of their game and perform how they have done in going toe-to-toe with some of the best sides in the league – a combination of those factors can certainly net that elusive win.
