Ian Darke cannot believe what’s been said about Portsmouth figure ahead of Hull trip
Ian Darke has completely refuted the idea John Mousinho’s job is in danger anytime soon as bottom-placed Portsmouth head to Hull City this weekend.
Former Pompey midfielder Gareth Evans, who made over 200 outings for the club, explained that Mousinho could have the next three games to save his long-term future at Fratton Park.
The promotion-winning head coach recently signed a new contract and takes his team to 15th-placed Hull City this Saturday [2 November] in search of a return to winning ways.
TNT Sports commentator and Blues fan Darke exclusively told Pompey News: “I’d be very opposed to letting him go. Maybe I’m old school, but this is the guy who took the team to the League One title.
“I would say it’s way, way too early – who would be better? You have to give him a chance. You see this so often when a manager gets a team promoted and because it’s harder in the higher division, they get rid of him by November.
“He’s learning at this level as well. It’s the first time he’s been in deep water and a test to see what he can come up with. A tweak or two could turn those results around.”
Portsmouth must recover form in November
Portsmouth and their efforts to avoid being left behind in the rigours of the Championship begin their November mission with a trip to the MKM Stadium, the opponents to which the travelling Blues fans have offered credit for their cheaper ticket pricing for the fixture.
Pompey and Hull last met in January 2021 when the Tigers took a storming 4-0 win from Fratton Park, though the Blues claimed 2-0 wins in each of the two before that.

The two teams crossed paths in the Premier League for two seasons, drawing three of the four meetings with Pompey winning the other 3-2 at Fratton.
The outcome of this most recent match could well have a huge impact on who will be in the Fratton Park dugout come a few weeks from now.
