Sky Sports presenter predicts Hull City v Portsmouth as record highlighted

David Prutton has predicted Portsmouth to lose 2-1 in their game against Hull City in the Championship.

The Blues are set to travel to the MKM Stadium on 2 November, with Pompey sitting at the bottom of the league table.

On the Essential EFL podcast [31 October], host Simeon Gholam highlighted the fact that Portsmouth have only lost one of their last 10 league games against the Tigers.

But that wasn’t enough to convince Prutton, who replied with his prediction: “Hull to win 2-1.”

Portsmouth need win over Hull City

The Blue Army have struggled in the Championship after dominating most teams in League One last season.

The second tier of English football has felt a step too high for Pompey in recent weeks after a relatively decent start to the campaign where they went unbeaten in the first three matches.

Since then, the Blues have picked up just four points in the league, struggling to keep out opposition attacks.

At home, John Mousinho’s team have struggled to find the back of the net, scoring just three goals at Fratton Park, and questions will likely be asked about the manager’s future.

The club’s away record is slightly better in terms of scoring, but they have struggled to keep out opposition attacks, conceding 16 goals.

The 2-1 win over QPR on 19 October was encouraging and could’ve kickstarted Portsmouth’s campaign, but the subsequent losses to Cardiff City and Sheffield Wednesday have brought the team back to square one.

With a long season still ahead, the Pompey faithful can be hopeful of getting out of the relegation zone with a few decent fixtures coming up, starting with Hull.

The Blues Army last faced the Tigers in a Championship fixture in March 2012 at home, with the hosts winning 2-0, and there’s no reason why that scoreline can’t be repeated this time around.
