Dan Bardell predicts outcome of Portsmouth Championship survival fight after Hull draw

Dan Bardell says he believes Portsmouth will find a way to stay in the Championship this season, despite a “bitty” campaign in store.

Pompey took a creditable point home from Hull City on Saturday [2 November] with two huge games within the next week which offer a chance to move out of the relegation places depending on results elsewhere.

John Mousinho’s side have still won just once this season, at QPR [19 October], and are yet to provide the Fratton Park faithful with a home victory.

“They’re still acclimatising, so I expect it to be a bitty season for Portsmouth,” the Sky Sports broadcaster exclusively told Pompey News.

“That’s what it’s been so far – it’s always difficult to make the step up from League One. It was never going to go the same way as Ipswich but rather a transitional season.

“But they’ve got a sensible fanbase who I’m sure will realise it’s a process. They’ve been burned before. They’re a great club and I do think they’ll be alright.”

Portsmouth do themselves justice with Hull City recovery

The contest on Humberside on Saturday was reminiscent of the start of the entire campaign for Portsmouth.

It was a match of two halves, the first 45 minutes offering so frustratingly little before the second half showed a lot more promise – starting with Josh Murphy’s vital equaliser.
