View: 100% star shows Portsmouth what they’ve been missing after fairytale return v Preston
Colby Bishop made a fairytale comeback to action for Portsmouth as he found the back of the net in the win over Preston at Fratton Park.
Pompey took on the Lilywhites on 9 November in the Championship, as Josh Murphy and Connor Ogilvie also got on the scoresheet in the 3-1 victory.
Portsmouth were given a scare early in the second half when Emil Riis Jakobsen got one back, but it was all set up for Bishop, as he took in the moment and scored from the spot in the 89th minute.
The 28-year-old had been out of action since undergoing heart surgery in July this year, and at that point, nobody knew when or if he would return.
But just three months after, the striker showed what Portsmouth have been missing this season — a clinical finisher — something Kusini Yengi has struggled to show.
Colby Bishop makes fairytale comeback in Portsmouth v Preston
Against Preston, Bishop came on for his first minutes of the season, registering an xG of 0.79 and had 100 per cent shot accuracy in the game, according to FotMob.
Coming on as the team were protecting their lead wasn’t an ideal situation for the 28-year-old, but he made the most of what he got, with 10 touches on the ball, completing 40 per cent of his passes, making one pass into the final third.

The striker also showed his willingness to work for the team, making one clearance and interception each, and while he lost most of his duels, he attempted seven of them.
John Mousinho made several additions this summer, and it feels like he may need to do that once again in January, although the return of Bishop should ease some of their attacking concerns.
Pompey are currently in the relegation zone and one of the reasons for their poor run has been a lack of potency up front, Callum Lang being the leading goalscorer with four in all competitions.
With Bishop’s return, the Fratton Park faithful have something to look forward to, and they hope that the Englishman will be able to aid their bid to survive relegation in the current campaign.
