David Norris shares Portsmouth transfer concern after what Andy Cullen said

Portsmouth CEO Andy Cullen should not be doubling down publicly on the club’s transfer strategy towards supporters, according to David Norris.

The club chief recently revealed in the club’s Q&A with the Pompey Supporters’ Trust that they “will continue” to invest in promising players.

Some have taken these comments in the way of failing to invest in enough ready-made Championship players who may cost a higher fee, though Cullen admitted they may “tweak” one or two criteria in January.

“I understand what he’s saying, but I don’t think he needs to double down on it when there’s obviously a concern within the fans,” former midfielder Norris exclusively told Pompey News.

“It could’ve been worded more positively towards the future of the club. Pompey’s squad isn’t even massively young on average, but it’s a case of certain players and whether they’d be good enough.

“I just think they need more quality in January.”

Portsmouth know they must get January right

Portsmouth will be expected to pick up where they left off in terms of business over the course of the winter window, following major summer squad surgery following promotion.

There will be incomings and outgoings aplenty at Fratton Park with many supporters ridden with anxiety that their club will flounder in the second half of the campaign.

However, Pompey have the chance against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park [23 November] – where their women’s team were beaten on Sunday – to claim successive wins for the first time this season.

In other Portsmouth news, Cullen opens up on the summer pursuits of Alex Robertson and Abu Kamara.
