David Norris: Colby Bishop’s return at Portsmouth is ‘huge’
David Norris has explained how Portsmouth will benefit from the return of Colby Bishop beyond the obvious reason of his goals.
Bishop is now back in among the first-team setup at Pompey and is already off and running with the goals, sealing the club’s first Championship home win of the season with a penalty on a fairytale return.
The 27-year-old striker underwent major heart surgery in July and was expected to return in the New Year, but recovered at a superb rate.
“. Not just for the goals he has always offered but also that added effect of considering what he’s been through, and the way he comes back. It’s bigger than coming back from any injury,” said ex-Blues midfielder Norris, speaking exclusively to Pompey News.
“I’m hoping that knock-on effect can be even more powerful. It’s one of those that gives goosebumps, was buzzing off it. To recover in such a short time has been extraordinary.
“So it’s not just getting a player back, but it’s also a rallying cry because of what he’s been through.”
Portsmouth dust off from postponement for Millwall clash
Portsmouth are expected to enjoy an almighty boost from the return of Bishop, especially if he can be fit and firing at Championship level.
Millwall are the upcoming visitors to Fratton Park, with Wednesday night’s [27 November] clash providing a stern test.

By the time the two face off, Pompey will have had to thaw out from 18 days without a match, following the postponement of Saturday’s trip to Blackburn Rovers [23 November] due to heavy rainfall caused by Storm Bert.
