Don Goodman thinks Portsmouth postponements could be an advantage
Don Goodman thinks the two games Portsmouth had postponed in November could end being an advantage.
An away clash at Blackburn was cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch prior to a fierce encounter against Millwall being postponed due to floodlight failure.
Pompey have now played two fewer games than those around them but Goodman told Pompey News it might not be the worst thing.
“It’s a tough one really (back-to-back postponements) and for a game to be cancelled because of floodlights at your own ground… you want to scream,” Goodman said with his head in his hands.
“Blackburn was waterlogged but that is a tough game but Millwall at home they’d have probably fancied it.
“I’m not saying it would have been an easy game but it would have been an opportunity for Portsmouth to win. So two games in hand is it’s tough but ultimately we’ll never know because at this moment we don’t know what the outcome of those games would have been.
“Hypothetically they might have lost them both in which case it would have been bad so maybe when those fixtures come around again they’ll be in better form and that will give them more chance of taking points out of the games but yeah it’s been a tough start there’s no getting away from it.”
Portsmouth must win their games in hand
Having games in hand can be seen as a good thing or a bad thing depending on how full or empty your glass tends to be.
While Pompey sit bottom of the league, they know what winning those two games would do for them but at the same time, it adds to an already congested schedule.

In theory, six points from those two games could take them up to 16th although results between now and then will play a part.
Nonetheless, Pompey need to get back on form to avoid falling even further away from Championship safety.
