Portsmouth v Millwall rearranged as fixture backlog ramps up
Portsmouth have discovered a new date for their postponed Championship clash with Millwall at Fratton Park.
As of the club’s official X page [3 December], John Mousinho’s side have been pencilled in to go again with Neil Harris’ men on 28 January [7:45pm], meaning Pompey now have 11 matches between Boxing Day and 1 February.
The rearranged contest at Ewood Park against Blackburn Rovers was previously scheduled for 15 January, meaning a constant barrage of matches throughout the transfer window for the Blues.
Portsmouth must take advantage in January
Portsmouth have a large squad, but one dishevelled at times by various injury concerns.
Mousinho has consequently been unable to gather any momentum with a favoured XI, where each player in the squad knows where they stand.
The general consensus is that there are not enough players at Fratton Park capable of the long slog of the Championship, meaning further nous is required to be added in January.

The transfer window is an imperative one to get right to turn the fortunes of the club around in the second tier, and avoid a drop back into the abyss of League One – a division Pompey struggled to get out of for seven years.
The rate of games comes at just under one every three days between the festive period and the start of February, and reinforcements will need to be made as quickly and astutely as possible to avoid burnout in the squad.
