Portsmouth must get to the root of ‘weird’ Shaughnessy issue – Norris
Portsmouth must act to prevent any further issues related to the “weird” situation of Conor Shaughnessy, according to David Norris.
Shaughnessy was intended to be a key operator in the Championship this season but has not played since August, having injured both of his calves in quick succession.
The expectation is that the Irishman could return in January, but former Blues midfielder Norris finds the whole predicament very unusual.
“It’s a weird and unusual set of injury reoccurrences and we don’t really know what’s going on,” he exclusively told Pompey News.
“You’d think they’d be able to address the situation at this level now, but it’s weird that one seemed okay and then the other one went. But it’s a real setback for the defence, and as well his goal threat.
“He’s been a big miss at times, he makes a real impact. But the club have to get to the bottom of that and look to prevent any further issues.”
Portsmouth have missed Conor Shaughnessy
Having conceded 34 league goals this season, Portsmouth have felt the consequences of the void left by Shaughnessy, who only missed one game as the club marched to the League One title last term.
The 28-year-old has only played in two league matches this season, both in August against former side Leeds United and then Luton Town. He was named in the starting XI to face Sheffield United on 28 August, but dropped out shortly before kick-off.

The prognosis on his return has varied a lot which has baffled Pompey fans, the latest timeframe pointing towards a potential comeback next month.
