View: Portsmouth can add small financial boost after club shop news
Portsmouth have announced a meet-and-greet for Wednesday afternoon which will be sure to add trade for the club’s temporary store in Gunwharf Quays.
Abdoulaye Kamara, Sammy Silvera and several members of the Pompey Women’s squad will be present at the store for 90 minutes late on 18 December, as Pompey shared a final reminder on X in the hours leading up to the event.
The Fratton Park store also received a boost in custom on Monday [16 December] as Matt Ritchie and Christian Saydee were in attendance to meet supporters, many of whom then bought official merchandise.
Portsmouth hosting regular community initiatives
Portsmouth regularly hold community events which not only strengthen the bond between the island city and its close-knit supporter base, but also add financial benefits for the club.
Despite many supporters often being up in arms in recent months over what they believe to be a lack of first-team squad or academy investment from the Eisners, the infrastructure has been drastically improved.
The Blues are gradually reaping the rewards of the multi-million-pound projects at Fratton Park, which have enhanced the matchday experience for both home and away fans and consequently earned the club more trade in food and drink, hospitality packages and matchday events.
Meet-and-greet events are a classic way to bring players and fans closer, and the usual hosting venue of the club shop catches two birds with one stone in terms of boosting merchandise trade, particularly around Christmas.
The Pompey Store at Fratton Park will once again be at its busiest with the final home fixture before Christmas taking place against Coventry City this Saturday [21 December].
In other Portsmouth news, David Norris urges the club to ensure a repeat of Conor Shaughnessy’s “weird” injury setback does not occur.
