Terry Devlin ‘undroppable’ at Portsmouth despite Derby off night – Ian Darke
Terry Devlin has been described as a “revelation” who has become “undroppable” at Portsmouth by Ian Darke.
A midfielder by trade, the 21-year-old has carved out an established berth at right-back in John Mousinho’s side, earning himself regular game time where many teammates are missing out.
Devlin is now at the stage where he is keeping more recognised full-back options out of the team, as Darke credited him exclusively to Pompey News, despite acknowledging he was not at his best in the 4-0 thumping by Derby County last time out (13 December).
“Devlin has been a revelation and it’s been a huge plus for Pompey. They had to draft him in because of injuries, but he’s given a series of high-energy and good performances at right-back,” the TV commentator and Blues fan said.
“He was off the pace against Derby like many others but you’d excuse him that one on the night.
“He’s almost made himself undroppable. He has a steel and dynamism about him, and he’s good in the air as well.”
Portsmouth get bonus from Terry Devlin
Portsmouth certainly did not expect Devlin to become their first-choice Championship right-back, but his performances have done him justice.
The youngster will be expected to start again in the role against Coventry City this Saturday [21 December], as Pompey round off Fratton Park action for the calendar year – a memorable one.

Devlin will aim to stay consistent in his performances and eventually knock on the door for Northern Ireland, whose current first-choice right-back Trai Hume has been playing at a high standard for Sunderland for some time.
In other Portsmouth news, the desperation becomes clear for Conor Shaughnessy to return.
