Don Goodman shares ‘Crazy’ condition for Portsmouth to sanction Callum Lang sale
Don Goodman has claimed that Portsmouth should not sell Callum Lang unless they receive a “crazy” offer for him in January.
Lang has been the standout performer for Portsmouth this season despite a poor showing in their defeat to Watford on Boxing Day.
With nine goals to his name, Lang is one of the top scorers in the Championship this season and remains crucial to their hopes of avoiding relegation with Goodman telling Pompey News that they should not entertain any offers in January unless they fall under one condition.
“Look, every player has a price,” explained Goodman. “It would take an astronomical bid for Portsmouth to accept that they’d allow him to leave.
“They’re in a relegation battle. Goals have been hard to come by all season. He’s been the one player who they’ve been able to rely on to score and create at the top end of the pitch where they have found it hard.
“And so, from my perspective, they would be mad to entertain any kind of approach for Callum Lang, unless it’s one that is beyond crazy in terms of its monetary value, really.“
Callum Lang is crucial to Portsmouth survival hopes
Lang hasn’t only been the best player for Pompety this season, he’s actually been one of the best in the Championship when it comes to his numbers produced with Borja Sainz and Josh Maja the only players to have scored more than him.
That statistic alone shows how important he is to the side and why they should refuse to sanction any sale regardless of the price.
Josh Murphy has been another key player for Pompey this season and the duo have the ability to influence games positively and earn the points required for survival.

Portsmouth need to show ambition in January and the sale of any of their key players would completely negate that.
If they can maintain the foundations of their squad, they have every chance of remaining in the Championship next season.
