Portsmouth are set for an additional income from a brand-new historic tour opportunity for supporters at Fratton Park, the most close-up experience yet.

As advertised on their official website (3 January), Pompey are offering fans the chance for 2025 to delve deeply into the history of what they proudly proclaim "the south of England's most successful club" with a date set for Sunday 26 January.

The exclusive event is led by members of the Pompey History Society, and will include a two-course Sunday lunch alongside a visit to the Champions of England exhibition, and a detailed look at the Blues' trophy cabinet.

Tickets are priced at £35 for adults and £22.50 for children, with places selling fast, and other tours still available to book at Fratton via the club site.

If the event can become a more regular occurrence and garners excellent reviews from supporters, the crowds can draw quickly and the club will wholly benefit into consistent four-figure takings each time.

Portsmouth channelling the historic heart of the city

The football; the Navy; and most recently the university. Anyone around Portsmouth has a connection to one at the very least.

This small island city knows its identity, almost a micro-nation attitude, so it is unsurprising but excellent that the club are once again tapping into that by offering supporters the chance to take in the extensive historical aspect of Fratton Park.

Tours currently offered by Pompey are led by either club legends or ambassadors, which does not always necessarily look too detailed into how the city identity shapes the Blues, and the finer features of the club's bygone successes.

The tour is expected to garner a fair amount of interest and will also supply Pompey with a welcome cash boost, after it was revealed earlier this week the club have operated at a £5.6million loss as of the latest accounts - to be expected following promotion to the Championship and the demands it entails.

The upcoming event - the first historic tour of 2025 - takes place a day after the league trip to West Bromwich Albion (25 January).
