Portsmouth may need to fend off Lang interest all window – Ian Darke
Portsmouth are unlikely to lose Callum Lang in January though you “never can tell” in the winter window, according to Ian Darke.
Lang has been Pompey’s talisman this season and has scored nine Championship goals, endearing himself to the Fratton faithful with numerous determined performances.
TV commentator and Blues fan Darke, speaking exclusively to Pompey News, is unconvinced Lang could leave the South Coast this month and hopes the club would not entertain any potential offers from elsewhere but acknowledges interest might last the entire window.
“I’d be very surprised to be honest with you. I don’t think he’s one of those players that clubs are queueing up to buy in January – as great as he’s done and as good as he was to get those four goals against Coventry,” he explained.
“I’d expect him to be staying, but obviously clubs will admire him so there could be some stories and you never can tell right up until the deadline whether someone will try. You’d hope Pompey would rebuff any offer.”
Callum Lang will stay at Portsmouth
Portsmouth will experience plenty of comings and goings this month, as they pick up where they left off in the summer window of attempting to mould the squad into something resembling a competitive roster for the Championship.
However, fans have been critical of a perceived lack of adequate spending – to then lose a player like Lang on top of that would be a catastrophe in the eyes of many.

The former Wigan Athletic man has featured 20 times in the league this season, adding one assist to his nine goals.
