Portsmouth transfer round-up: Mousinho on verge of attacker deal, exits touted

Portsmouth are looking to complete some potentially exciting business before the 3 February transfer deadline.

Many supporters believe the winter business will be make-or-break towards Pompey’s survival chances in the Championship this season, with four days to go of the window and the Blues sat 21st in the league table.

John Mousinho’s squad has been bolstered by the additions so far this month of Rob Atkinson, Isaac Hayden, Thomas Waddingham and Hayden Matthews, with others potentially set to follow.

Will Norris turns down Portsmouth exit for Barnsley

Will Norris has reportedly turned down the chance to leave Portsmouth for Barnsley, according to BBC Radio Sheffield’s Andy Giddings (30 January).

The goalkeeper has fallen down the pecking order at Fratton as the season has progressed and while a move remains on the cards, he has rejected the move to Oakwell with the clubs having agreed terms.

Barnsley recently brought in Australian stopper Joe Gauci on loan from Aston Villa which may be a driving force behind Norris’ reluctance at the move to the League One outfit.

Portsmouth chasing former Arsenal star Bramall

Pompey are heading towards a “positive conclusion” for pacy left-back Cohen Bramall from Rotherham United, BBC Radio Solent’s Andy Moon has reported (29 January).

The 28-year-old has played over 100 games for the Millers but could be set for a move to Fratton Park, where he would provide competition for Connor Ogilvie in the long-term absence of Jacob Farrell.

Bramall spent two years with Arsenal as a youngster and travelled on pre-season tours with the Gunners, before finding regular football in the lower reaches of the EFL.

Trio touted out by Blues to League One clubs on loan

Portsmouth have reportedly sounded out League One clubs to Will Norris, Ryley Towler and Owen Moxon for loan deals until the summer, Darren Witcoop reports (30 January).

Moxon has attracted interest from the third tier and could exit Fratton Park in the coming days, while Pompey appear to have U-turned on a decision to keep Towler in the building.

Norris has already rejected a move to Barnsley and is still expected to leave before Monday’s deadline, as the trio struggle for game time and the Blues are tasked with clearing squad spaces.

Adil Aouchiche loan from Sunderland close

Portsmouth are close to completing an agreement with Sunderland for attacking midfielder Adil Aouchiche, according to Foot Mercato’s Santi Aouna (30 January).

Aouchiche is finding game time hard to come by at the Stadium of Light having moved from France 18 months ago, and is being sought as competition for the front players at Fratton Park with Aouna describing the transfer as “almost done”.

The French-Algerian is capable on either wing as well as in a number 10 role, and has been rated highly for his set-piece delivery and penalties.
