Portsmouth arrange double exit as efforts ramp up for new recruits
Portsmouth have confirmed the double departure of Tom Lowery and Ben Stevenson as activity in the transfer market intensifies.
As reported via the club’s official website in quick succession (30 January), the exit of the pair comes as positive career news for the individuals who were unregistered to play in the Championship since the end of August.
Stevenson, who has joined Cambridge United, and Lowery who returns to Crewe Alexandra on loan, consequently have not appeared in a blue shirt for over five months.
Pompey are intent on bringing in further reinforcements before Monday’s deadline (3 February) but have suffered a setback with Sunderland star Adil Aouchiche due to international eligibility issues (Santi Aouna, 31 January).

All at Portsmouth are pleased for Lowery and Stevenson, two solid EFL operators, to get their moves away and opportunities to restart their respective careers.
However, in the present, it has been a frustrating process as Pompey scrap around to get deals completed – whether that be Aouchiche or elsewhere.
Cohen Bramall has been strongly linked with a move from Rotherham United (Andy Moon, 29 January) as the Blues attempt to secure competition at left-back for Connor Ogilvie, while the likes of Will Norris, Ryley Towler and Owen Moxon could all leave before Monday.
The main gripe with the Aouchiche saga is that clubs are able to sign a maximum of four international players who do not meet the 15 GBE (Governing Body Endorsement) points criteria, which the Frenchman does not as it stands.
This is worsened by the fact that two of the quartet making those places up at Fratton Park are Abdoulaye Kamara who has barely featured, and Jacob Farrell who has played once and is ruled out for the season.
