Marlon Pack can save Portsmouth career after John Mousinho update

Portsmouth are having a difficult season in the Championship and find themselves sitting 20th in the table, three points above the relegation zone.

John Mousinho has not been completely helped by having some injuries in his side that have led to him having to make changes in his squad.

Marlon Pack has felt the effects of this and, as a result, has moved from midfield into defence for some of the season.

However, this has led performances of the 33-year-old to come under criticism from supporters.

With players now returning from the sidelines, the boss chose to take Pack out of the side against Burnley as his side drew 0-0 with the second-placed team.

John Mousinho makes admission about Marlon Pack’s Portsmouth future

Although the 33-year-old has faced some criticism, this season the boss has been grateful for his player’s ability to drop back into defence when needed to fill gaps in the side.

However, according to The News (5 February), the boss now sees his future in a Portsmouth shirt back in his natural midfield position with more defensive players available for selection again.

Pack’s contract with Pompey expires in 2026 but he will be relieved at the chance to get back to a more familiar position and avoid the possibility of being moved on his summer.

If the 33-year-old can get himself back into the side, he can surely prove his abilities for the South Coast side again and regain the support of those at Fratton Park.

With a relegation battle on their hands, having an experienced man like Pack in the side can surely have a positive effect on Pompey’s chances to succeed in their fight.
