Portsmouth have Callum Lang concern after what happened in win v Oxford United
John Mousinho will be concerned after what happened to Portsmouth star Callum Lang in the win over Oxford United.
Pompey earned an impressive victory on the road, beating Gary Rowett’s side 2-0 at the Kassam Stadium in the Championship on Saturday (16 February).
It leaves the South Coast club 18th in the Championship and seven points above the bottom three, providing their survival hopes with a big boost – which is important for Portsmouth’s finances.
Goals from Andre Dozzell and Mark O’Mahony were enough to secure the points. However, it wasn’t all plain sailing for Mousinho’s side against the U’s.
Portsmouth dealt Callum Lang injury blow v Oxford United
Lang has started 27 games in the Championship this season, making a further two appearances from the bench, scoring 10 goals and providing two assists. However, after the 26-year-old was forced off at the Kassam Stadium, supporters will no doubt be concerned about when they next might see the player.
With 67 minutes on the clock, Lang was forced to withdraw after a bursting run in the Oxford United half left the Portsmouth ace clutching his hamstring.
Those are the kinds of injuries which can often be so damaging for players. Therefore, Mousinho and Lang himself will be nervously awaiting any updates in the coming days.
Portsmouth to be without Callum Lang?
Lang wasn’t at his best during the 67 minutes which he played in Oxford.

As per Sofascore, he only managed to complete 70 per cent of his passes, with none of those key, and failed to provide an accurate cross or long ball forward. In addition, he managed just 22 touches of the ball, and while he did have two shots, only one found the target.
Defensively he was just as lethargic, winning only one of his three ground duels and losing both of his aerial duels, while he also gave possession of the ball away eight times and committed one foul.
He didn’t offer much on the ball either, succeeding with just 50 per cent of his attempted dribbles.
However, despite this below-par performance, Lang remains a very important part of the Portsmouth squad, and his contributions will be crucial to keeping the club in the Championship.
As a result, Mousinho will be hoping that Lang’s injury isn’t a serious one.
