Portsmouth final Championship position predicted by supercomputer after QPR win
Portsmouth extended their buffer on the Championship relegation zone with a 2-1 win over QPR on Saturday.
The victory over QPR at Fratton Park on 22 February leaves John Mousinho’s side nine points above the Championship drop zone with 12 matches left to play.
The Fratton Park outfit face bottom-dwellers Luton Town next Saturday (1 March) looking to expand their margin on 22nd-placed Plymouth.
Pompey are surely out of the relegation picture after a run of three successive victories.

Portsmouth final Championship position predicted
The former Premier League outfit are expected to survive comfortably in a new prediction by a supercomputer.
Championship (predicted finish) | Expected points | Relegation % |
17. Portsmouth | 54.38 | 1.72 |
18. Stoke | 50.90 | 8.96 |
19. Oxford United | 50.79 | 8.94 |
The Opta Analyst supercomputer believes that Pompey will finish 17th, with an expected points tally of 54.38.
They have just a 1.72 per cent chance of being relegated from the division, according to the latest update.

Championship survival just the start for Portsmouth
Mousinho‘s men can kick on next season after a solid return to the second tier in which they solidified themselves in the division after a shaky start.
With the right signings in the summer and key players like Regan Poole returning from injury, the club can begin to look towards the higher echelons of the table, with a return to the Premier League an eventual possibility.
They could take advantage of their underdog status and put together a surprise playoff run with the confidence that this campaign will have given them, but a more realistic goal is securing a top-half finish at the very least and then building from there.
It would take a lot of luck for Pompey to secure promotion given the strength of the top teams, but the Championship is unpredictable. For example, Luton were touted for an immediate return to the top flight but are bottom.
It will be a long road but with the right mix of an exciting manager, young and experienced players, and solid recruitment, it can be done eventually and ultimately remains the hope for supporters.
