
Portsmouth relegation odds shift after events in past 48 hours
Portsmouth have put a strong run together of three wins on the spin in the Championship in a bid to stave off the threat of relegation.
Luton Town, propping up the league table, are the next opponents for John Mousinho’s side at Kenilworth Road on Saturday (1 March).
Pompey have combined their home form with a rare away win at Oxford United (15 February) in among their past three results and now look to stretch the winning run to four before three Fratton Park fixtures for the rest of the month.

For much of the season, Portsmouth have been one of the favourites to face the drop back down to League One, but now as expected their odds have drifted out.
On the back of the Championship matches played over the past 48 hours – which included Stoke City and Hull City both losing – Pompey are now 12/1 with Sky Bet to be dragged into the bottom three come the end of the campaign.
Portsmouth owner Michael Eisner reassured supporters earlier this season that the Blues would categorically not be relegated this season, and fans are hopeful that a low-key, safe final few weeks are on the horizon.
Matters have been shown to change very quickly, with the likes of Luton envisaged by very few to be in the predicament they are in.
A tough test beckons after Luton with champions-elect Leeds United heading to Fratton Park in a bid to solidify their promotion bid (9 March).

Pompey can invest further into team after safety
Portsmouth fans want to see the hierarchy invest more into the footballing side of the operations at Fratton Park, having seen the stadium and infrastructure paid particular attention.
Pompey did emerge stronger from the January transfer window than they entered it having signed eight new arrivals.
The hope is that the profits of another guaranteed year in the second tier can see Portsmouth expand their reaches and bring in Championship-established recruits to lift the squad.

Mousinho has been working with one hand behind his back not just in terms of the budget, but also injuries for Portsmouth – something he is reluctant to dwell on with other clubs suffering with their own problems.
Three of the next four after Luton come at Fratton Park, and that is something on which the Blues must capitalise.
