Kaide Gordon ‘must start’ v Leeds after what happened in Portsmouth loss
Kaide Gordon must have surely impressed John Mousinho despite Portsmouth losing to Luton Town in the Championship on Saturday.
Kenilworth Road hosted Pompey on 1 March in what was a disappointing 1-0 loss for the visitors after Jordan Clark scored in the first half.
Gordon was brought on by John Mousinho right after the break as the Hampshire outfit looked to salvage something from the fixture.
The Hatters struggled to contain Pompey in the second half but managed to hold on to their lead to get three valuable points in what could prove pivotal in the relegation battle.

Portsmouth dominate Luton in second half
Luton were on the back foot for most of the fixture after the break as Mousinho’s team had the majority of the possession.
The visitors completed 129 passes, had five shots on target and created one big chance against the Hatters after the break, as per FotMob.
Championship table (2024/25) | Points |

18. Oxford United | 38 |
19. Stoke City | 36 |

Mousinho has done well in the Championship over the last few weeks, getting three victories on the trot before losing to Matt Bloomfield’s team.
The Hampshire outfit are 17th in the table right now, but that could change as some other teams have a game in hand over them.

Mousinho must start Gordon v Leeds after determined display
Gordon signed for Portsmouth from Liverpool on loan in the winter transfer window but has largely been on the bench since his arrival.
The 20-year-old made his Pompey debut against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane in the 2-1 loss on 8 February.
Gordon got his opportunity against Luton and didn’t disappoint after a determined display at Kenilworth Road.
The 20-year-old completed 75 per cent of his passes, had two touches in the opposition box and attempted four crosses during the fixture, as per FotMob.
While the young forward tried to make things happen in the attack, his defensive contributions caught the eye, winning 100 per cent of his ground duels, 100 per cent of his tackles, making one interception, four recoveries.
The Englishman also won a foul for the Hampshire outfit as they looked to get back into the game against Luton.
Gordon replaced Matt Ritchie at the break, and the 35-year-old was rightly hooked off after a poor display in the opening 45 minutes.
With Leeds up next for Pompey at Fratton Park on 9 March, Mousinho must start the Liverpool loanee.
