Portsmouth’s Championship odds shift after weekend development
Portsmouth suffered defeat at the weekend to Luton Town, with their Championship survival odds updating on the back of that.
They remain 17th in the table – a higher position than they have occupied for much of the season prior to Christmas – though Portsmouth head coach John Mousinho will look to raise the standards from Luton.
The Blues approached the weekend nine points clear of the relegation zone and now it is eight, so a slight dent in the armour of the survival bid.

Portsmouth top half odds lengthen
Portsmouth have relied heavily on their home form this season with just two victories on the road, but they take on the might of Leeds United next up this Sunday (9 March).
As a result of handing Luton their first win of the calendar year at the weekend, Pompey remain 12/1 to suffer relegation (Sky Bet) but 16/1 to finish inside the Championship top half (William Hill).
Pompey sit closer to 12th place than the drop zone, six points adrift of mid-table Millwall.
The catch is that of the teams separating Mousinho’s men from the top half, three including Millwall have played a game fewer.
If any ambitious Portsmouth supporters did have an eye on the top 12 this season, it would be all the more reason not to be looking over their shoulder for the teams already there, with 11th-placed Norwich City just four points outside the play-offs.

Fratton Park home advantage vital for Pompey
Michael Eisner affirmed earlier this season in a direct address to Portsmouth supporters that they need not fear about relegation come May.
His confidence was met with some scepticism but even despite all the injuries Mousinho has been and continues to deal with, they have moved in the right direction.
The most prominent factor in that rise has been the home form, with the Blues winning six of their eight matches at Fratton Park since 21 December.
POS | Most Championship points in 2025 | PTS |
1 | Coventry City | 25 |
2 | Leeds United | 25 |
3 | Sheffield United | 24 |
4 | Sunderland | 21 |
5 | Burnley | 20 |
6 | PORTSMOUTH | 19 |
Not to mention that since the turn of the year the overall picture has been a triumphant one, with 19 points earned in 2025 – the sixth-highest total in the division which would constitute play-off form.
Pompey host three of their remaining four March fixtures at Fratton Park, which could be vital for navigating a permanent way out of any survival threat.
