Portsmouth ‘have Sky Sports to thank’ as major pre-Leeds United boost emerges
Portsmouth will now fancy their chances against Leeds United after a change already made by Sky Sports.
Pompey are preparing to welcome Daniel Farke’s table topping side to Fratton Park in their next fixture on Sunday (9 March).
This will be no easy task for John Mousinho and Co. given the form that the Whites have shown in recent weeks, losing just one in their last 18 Championship games.
With that being said, the PO4 faithful will now be hopeful of securing a positive result after a stat emerged out of Elland Road ahead of the clash.

Portsmouth in lunchtime schedule boost v Leeds United
There is no shortage of fixture congestion throughout the season for EFL sides, and Leeds are set to face the worst of this in the coming weeks.
Last season’s playoff finalists have already shown their ability to deal with this with little impact, but as the campaign goes on, that could begin to show in negative fashion.
Their trip to Fratton Park has been moved due to Sky Sports recently moving the game to Sunday midday, as opposed to the initial Saturday (8 March) date.
This will see Farke’s men play three games in seven days with two of those including sizable away journeys which are likely to take some of the wind out of the Whites’ sails.
Date | Leeds United fixture list | |
09/03/25 | (A) | Portsmouth |
12/03/25 | (H) | Millwall |
15/03/25 | (A) | QPR |
29/03/25 | (H) | Swansea City |
05/04/25 | (A) | Luton Town |
Although this will come as a boost for Mousinho and his players, the fact that Leeds have won just two of their last 12 fixtures staged that have been played before 1.30pm is a massive boost.
This will be music to Pompey ears who can now go into a clash against the best side in the division with hope of securing all three points.

Portsmouth have great chance to beat Leeds United
It is safe to say that Portsmouth may not have many better opportunities to beat a Leeds side who are seemingly destined for promotion.
Welcoming the Championship leaders with the hope of securing a famous win would require a much better showing than against Luton Town last time out.
There were few positives to take away from Kenilworth Road as the recently relegated side won for the first time since mid-December.
The likes of Colby Bishop and Josh Murphy will have to be on top of their game and clinical to convert chances when they eventually come against Leeds.
It will certainly be interesting to see how Farke copes with a busy schedule and the issue surrounding his side’s failures in early kick-offs.
