Portsmouth mega fan John Westwood rejected entry at Luton Town as footage shared
John Westwood was seemingly refused entry to Kenilworth Road as Portsmouth fell to a 1-0 defeat against fellow relegation battlers Luton Town in their Championship clash on Saturday.
John Mousinho’s men are now eight points clear of the Championship’s relegation zone and have some tough fixtures on the horizon.
Portsmouth’s next game is against league leaders Leeds United and it’s likely that Westwood will be hoping for a different outcome when the West Yorkshire outfit make their trip down south.

Westwood left outside of Kenilworth Road due to what he was wearing
As Westwood usually does, he rocked up to the game in some rather questionable attire which the security at Kenilworth Road didn’t appreciate.
The Pompey-mad fan was questioning why he wasn’t allowed to enter, which was quickly answered by security who said he needed to remove the clown shoes he was wearing.
Position | Team | Points |
17th | Portsmouth | 39 |
18th | Oxford United | 38 |
19th | Hull City | 36 |
20th | Stoke City | 36 |
21st | Cardiff City | 36 |
22nd | Luton Town | 31 |
While it’s unknown if he ever was allowed into the game, he didn’t miss out on all that much with Pompey failing to add any extra points to their Championship tally.
The footage, shared via a fans’ X account (4 March), shows Westwood talking to the two security members outside of the stadium.

Portsmouth need to get back to winning ways in the Championship
While things may have started to look somewhat brighter for Portsmouth after their three wins on the bounce, there’s still plenty more that could come from Mousinho’s men.
Of course, most of the players are putting in plenty of effort to try and retain Pompey’s Championship status, but if they don’t manage to get back into the swing of things and add some extra points to their tally, they could find themselves dragged into the relegation battle once again.
Eight points separate them from the drop, but with only 11 games remaining in the season, there’s not all that much room for error.
Only time will tell what the future holds for Portsmouth, but if their performance against Luton over the weekend is anything to go off, things could start to get somewhat hairy for them in the near future.
Which, to be quite frank, is the last thing that anyone wants.
