Portsmouth v Leeds United result predicted by supercomputer
Portsmouth face arguably their toughest remaining match of the Championship season on Sunday when they face Leeds United.
Leeds travel to Fratton Park for Sunday’s early kick-off sat three points clear at the top of the second-tier table, with a five-point cushion in the automatic promotion places and the Premier League in their sights.
Pompey, meanwhile, sit 17th and eight points above the drop zone after three wins in their last four; albeit as the last match of the weekend, they could be as low as 21st by the time they kick off against Leeds.
John Mousinho’s side are one of few to come away from Elland Road with their heads held high this term, drawing 3-3 at Leeds on the opening day in a match which saw Leeds force an equaliser in stoppage time.

Supercomputer makes prediction ahead of Portsmouth v Leeds
Despite having home advantage on Sunday, Portsmouth won’t be seen as favourites by many to come away from Fratton Park with three points, despite Mousinho’s side being in relatively strong form.
Position | Club | Played | Won | Drawn | Lost | GD | Points |
1 | Leeds United | 35 | 22 | 10 | 3 | +50 | 76 |
17 | Portsmouth | 35 | 10 | 9 | 16 | –14 | 39 |
Opta’s supercomputer reflects this sentiment (6 March), giving Pompey just a 21.1 per cent chance of victory in their prediction for the outcome of Sunday’s match, with Leeds’ chances rated at 57.3 per cent.
With a draw given a 21.6 per cent chance of happening – a fraction likelier than a Portsmouth victory – Mousinho’s side are expected to be in for a long afternoon as the side predicted to finish top arrive.

Portsmouth can continue recent form v Leeds
The disparity between these two sides is on full display ahead of kick-off, with Pompey recently promoted from League One and Leeds bound for a return to the Premier League after two years away.
Leeds have won almost double the amount of Pompey’s points this term and are many managers’ and pundits’ favourites to lift the league title, making good use of their top-flight parachute payments.
Pompey are hardly at full-strength going into Sunday’s clash with no less than seven first-team players and four defenders on the sidelines, though the likes of Marlon Pack will be set to deputise once again.
Mousinho’s side, however, almost produced the ultimate snatch-and-grab result at Elland Road on the opening day, and if they can fly out of the traps to catch Leeds cold once more, Pompey could spring another surprise to derail the visitors’ promotion bid.
