Leeds United predicted XI v Portsmouth: Big-name player out
Portsmouth are set to welcome Leeds United to Fratton Park on Sunday in the Championship.
John Mousinho’s men have been in fine form lately barring their 1-0 defeat to Luton last time out and will be looking to extend their gap to the relegation zone in their next game against the Whites.
Unlike Portsmouth, Leeds’ form is hardly a purple patch with Daniel Farke’s men unbeaten in the Championship since November.

Brenden Aaronson to be axed from Leeds starting XI v Portsmouth
One player who has been a constant feature in Farke’s starting XI this season has been Brenden Aaronson.
Things didn’t quite work out for the former RB Salzburg man while out on loan last term with the attacking midfielder making a return to Leeds to try and make amends for jumping ship as soon as they were relegated.
Aaronson’s 2024/25 campaign started off well with the midfielder even going on a redemption arc but, as he’s Leeds’ only natural number 10, fatigue has caught up with him over the last few weeks which is why he could be dropped.
Joe Rothwell is the other player who could be axed from Leeds’ starting XI with the Whites looking to shore up their defensive ranks after allowing Portsmouth to score three past them the last time they faced one another.

Portsmouth will have to be at their best to beat Leeds
In order for Portsmouth to add three points to their Championship tally and get themselves further away from the drop zone, they’ll have to put in a sublime performance.
Leeds are one of the most dominant teams in the second tier and more than deserve to be at the top of the table.
While Mousinho’s men may have fallen to a 1-0 defeat against Luton last time out, they shouldn’t let that take away from the three wins on the bounce they managed to achieve before that mishap.
Only time will tell what the future holds for Pompey but with both Aaronson and Rothwell predicted to be out of the clash, they could make the most of not having the duo in their way and leave Fratton Park with a surprise win.
