John Mousinho reveals Alexander Milosevic availability at Portsmouth

Portsmouth are flying in the Championship recently despite injuries and John Mousinho could soon have extra bodies in his squad at Fratton Park.

Pompey registered a massive 1-0 victory against league leaders Leeds United on Sunday (9 March) with Colby Bishop’s goal the difference.

The win puts them 10 points clear of the relegation zone, with another massive game against Plymouth coming up on Wednesday evening.

Mousinho reveals Alexander Milosevic availability

Portsmouth have now registered four wins from their last five games in the Championship, which has pulled them away from the battle at the bottom.

However, the boss is only looking at improving, with Pompey announcing the signing of Alexander Milosevic on a deal until the end of the season.

The 33-year-old was not available for selection against Leeds as he is currently awaiting international clearance at Fratton Park.

Next up for the Blues is a game against relegation-threatened Plymouth on Wednesday (13 March) which Milosevic should be available for.

However, the Portsmouth boss has warned supporters they may have to wait before seeing him in first-team action.

With the international break to follow after this week’s games, Mousinho told The News (10 March): “There’s no point us bringing him in and risking him breaking down, we’ve obviously had far too many injuries this year.

“We’ve got a week’s worth of training this week, maybe he’s in the squad on Wednesday. If we are happy with him, there are two weeks of training after that. It’s just about training and exposing him to that.”

Mousinho has Portsmouth flying high in Championship

As Mousinho says, there is no need to rush Milosevic into action if he is not ready.

The 33-year-old has played in Sweden for AIK this season and featured 15 times across 30 games of the season.

However, his last competitive appearance was back in November, where he lost 5-1, meaning he could do with more training before stepping into the first team at Fratton Park.

After a strong victory over Leeds on Sunday, you can’t imagine that Mousinho will be eager to make any big changes to his side at this stage, so having to wait to use Milosevic isn’t a big deal.

That being said, with plenty of football yet to be played, having an experienced player in the ranks to turn to after the international break could certainly help Pompey as they continue to push themselves towards survival.
