Marlon Pack hints at next move after Portsmouth, Colby Bishop reacts

Colby Bishop has expressed his delight after Portsmouth captain Marlon Pack announced his plans for the future.

Pack joined Pompey from Cardiff in July 2022, and the 33-year-old has enjoyed a few positive years at Fratton Park so far.

After a shaky start to the season, John Mousinho’s side are now six points clear of the relegation zone and look well positioned to survive in the Championship this season.

Pack has been a big part of getting Pompey to this position, playing 34 times in England’s second tier this term, although it is fair to say he wasn’t at his best as Portsmouth were beaten by Plymouth recently.

However, it appears as though Pack is already thinking about life after Portsmouth, and Bishop has reacted to his teammate’s plans.

Portsmouth have already found the next Pack, which offers a reminder that the Englishman won’t be around forever, as much as Mousinho might like him to be.

And it appears as though the player himself already realises that his playing days could be numbered after a recent announcement.

Pack took to his personal Instagram account on Wednesday (11 March) and posted two images which confirmed that he had officially completed his UEFA ‘A’ and UEFA ‘A ELITE YOUTH’ Diplomas, thus hinting at a coaching career once he officially hangs up his boots.

The post was liked by thousands, and among the many comments was his teammate Bishop, who simply wrote, “Love it” followed by a heart eyes emoji.

Pack could become a successful manager after Portsmouth

Pack has a contract at Fratton Park until 2026.

He will be 34-years-old when that contract runs out. Therefore, depending on how his body feels, he could decide to end his playing career at this point and transition straight into a coaching career.

Of course, there is always the chance that he joins another club or even extends his deal with Portsmouth. However, whatever he decides to do next, it appears as though a potential career as a manager could be on the horizon.
