John Mousinho ‘furious’ with Portsmouth players v Preston
Portsmouth fell to a 2-1 defeat at Preston on Saturday afternoon, and have now lost three of their last four Championship games.
Pompey conceded in the 76th minute at Deepdale, when former Watford defender Ryan Porteous opened the scoring.
John Mousinho’s men then levelled the scores through Colby Bishop only to be pegged back once more when Stefan Thordarson scored the winner.
The defeat leaves Pompey only four points above the relegation zone.

Mousinho blasts Portsmouth players for defeat at Preston
Pompey would have been relatively satisfied with a point on the road, especially after falling 1-0 down with less than 15 minutes to go.
However, Mousinho’s side were unable to hang on for a point, and instead suffered their second consecutive defeat.
Portsmouth’s last four results | Championship |
Luton (A) | 1-0 L |
Leeds (H) | 1-0 W |
Plymouth (H) | 1-2 L |
Preston (A) | 2-1 L |
The Pompey boss was left angry with the performance, and told BBC Radio Solent [15 March]: “I’m absolutely furious.
“I can’t believe what we did after getting the equaliser. Unacceptable on so many levels.
“I think I’ve been far too nice, far too kind to this team for far too long. If you look at the build-up to the goal, they should have scored before that.
“We keep on getting the press wrong, leaving our man, doing some of the world’s silliest things.”

Portsmouth will be nervously looking over their shoulders again
Things were looking up for Pompey when they defeated league leaders Leeds last Sunday, and pulled themselves away from the relegation zone with a surprise win over a side who will likely be plying their trade in the Premier League next term.
But following their victory over the Whites, Pompey suffered a 2-1 defeat on home soil last Wednesday to a Plymouth side who are now six points adrift of safety.
After losing to Plymouth, Mousinho and co will have hoped to yield at least a point from Saturday’s trip to Preston, but instead stumbled to another defeat.
Following three losses in their last four games, the Fratton Park side are now a mere four points above the relegation zone, which will leave some supporters fearful of an unwanted return to League One.
The upcoming international break will give Portsmouth an opportunity to regroup ahead of their key clash with Blackburn at the end of the month.
