Portsmouth boss Mousinho makes ‘spot on’ Ogilvie call
Portsmouth defender Connor Ogilvie played in an unfamiliar centre-back role as Pompey lost to Preston on Saturday.
John Mousinho’s men fell behind when Ryan Porteous scored for Preston but equalised through Colby Bishop with just seven minutes remaining.
A point on the road at Deepdale would have been a satisfactory result for Pompey, but Mousinho was left frustrated as his side eventually fell to a 2-1 defeat.
Portsmouth’s loss at Preston means they are now just four points clear of the relegation zone, with eight Championship games left to play.

Mousinho hints that Ogilvie will remain his first-choice left-back
Ogilvie’s selection at centre-back for Pompey’s recent trip to Preston meant that January signing Cohen Bramall was handed his first start at left-back since joining from League One Rotherham.
But Portsmouth boss Mousinho has strongly hinted that Ogilvie will remain his starting left-back and told The News: “I am not necessarily sure that Connor is going to lose his spot at left-back, but, if we can shift things around, then Cohen is certainly a good option.”

Mousinho is right to keep Ogilvie as his main left-back
The Portsmouth boss has indicated that Ogilvie is likely to remain as his usual starter at left-back, which the Fratton Park faithful should see as the correct decision.
The 29-year-old has been a regular in Pompey’s team since joining from Gillingham back in 2021 and has made over 150 appearances for the Hampshire side.
Ogilvie played his part in his side’s League One title triumph last term when he scored two goals and created one assist in 24 third tier outings.

His experience in Pompey colours means that he is an ideal player to help Portsmouth in their current bid to retain their Championship status.
Furthermore, he has notched four goals and one assist in the second tier this term, showing that he can help his team at both ends of the pitch.
While Bramall has recently signed a six-month deal at Fratton Park, Ogilvie is a solid club servant who will have what it takes to help keep Portsmouth in the Championship.
