‘Mousinho delighted with what happened to Portsmouth ace Yengi for Australia’
Portsmouth striker Kusini Yengi has jetted out to join Australia for the international break.
The 26-year-old has struggled for form in the Championship this season while also struggling with injury concerns at times.
This has seen him fail to score across 11 appearances in the second tier but still earned a call-up to the Socceroos for clashes against Indonesia and China.
With that being said, John Mousinho is bound to be delighted after what happened in the striker’s first game of the break.

Yengi unused substitute for Australia v Indonesia
Pompey have such a busy period coming up between now and the end of the season with Championship survival being the key aim.
There are just eight games remaining with only four points separating the Fratton Park outfit from Derby County in the drop zone.
Position | Club | Games played | Goal difference | Points |
17. | Portsmouth | 38 | -15 | 42 |
18. | Oxford United | 38 | -16 | 42 |
19. | Hull City | 38 | -8 | 41 |
20. | Stoke City | 38 | -14 | 39 |
21. | Cardiff City | 38 | -20 | 39 |
22. | Derby County | 38 | -11 | 38 |
As a result, Mousinho will want to maintain a fully fit squad on the south coast and won’t want that to be damaged by international football.
The English head coach can rest better knowing that Yengi was an unused substitute in Australia’s opening game of the break.
The Socceroos secured a 5-1 win in their World Cup Qualification clash and did so without the Pompey man who got a much-needed rest in New South Wales.
This will be music to everyone in PO4 who will be hopeful of the striker avoiding any further injuries between now and the end of the campaign.

Portsmouth need Yengi fit and ready
The forward has seriously struggled for goal output this season but there is no doubt that he has qualities which could suit the second tier.
After netting nine in 26 League One appearances before his injury last year, there is a striker in there that Mousinho will be keen to get the best out of.
That can only be done if he remains fit and going on international duty with Australia could be a threat to that.
If he can avoid injury, there is a chance that the Aussie forward can continue to link up with Colby Bishop moving forward in the Championship.
With Josh Murphy also in support at Pompey, there is no reason why the striker won’t eventually find his feet and hit his goal-scoring stride.
