Kaide Gordon shares what Mousinho has told him at Portsmouth
Kaide Gordon has provided some insight on the conversations he has had with John Mousinho amid his struggles at Portsmouth.
Gordon joined Portsmouth on loan in the winter transfer window, with the Liverpool loanee looking to put some recent difficulties behind him.
However, just like his loan spells with Derby County and Norwich City, the 20-year-old has failed to make an impact, clocking up just four appearances for Pompey thus far.
However, this isn’t thought to have bothered Liverpool, with Rich Hughes shedding some light on Gordon’s situation at Portsmouth recently.
Matt Ritchie has been helping Gordon behind the scenes, and the forward has now opened up on what Mousinho has told him, as he sets his targets for the rest of the season.

Mousinho offers advice to Gordon at Portsmouth
Gordon still has a chance to make an impact for Portsmouth before he returns to Liverpool.
With just four points separating Pompey and the Championship’s bottom three, it looks as though Mousinho’s side are in for something of a relegation dogfight.
Their upcoming game with Blackburn Rovers at Fratton Park on Saturday 29 March is a big one, and Mousinho will be desperate for his side to pick up three points.
Fixture | Venue | Date |
V Blackburn Rovers | Fratton Park | 29 March |
V Millwall | The Den | 5 April |
V Coventry | Coventry Building Society Arena | 9 April |
V Derby County | Fratton Park | 12 April |
V Norwich City | Carrow Road | 18 April |
V Watford | Fratton Park | 21 April |
V Sheffield Wednesday | Hillsborough | 26 April |
V Hull City | Fratton Park | 3 May |
Gordon will hope to make his fifth appearance for Portsmouth during that clash, and recently opened up on his targets for the rest of the season, as well as what he has been told by Mousinho.
The young Englishman said via The News (22 March), “I just need to push on now and make the most of this experience. The gaffer’s telling me to be positive and not be shy when I get on the ball.
“I’m being told to go create things because that’s what I’m on the pitch to do. That’s something that helps me when I get instructions like that. Being told to do that is a help, because I definitely feel I have the freedom to just go and enjoy myself.
“That’s my game anyway, I’m there to create chances – that’s what I have to go out and do now.”

Mousinho needs to give Gordon a chance at Portsmouth
After Portsmouth’s recent results, Mousinho could benefit from dropping some regulars.
And if the 38-year-old is to do this, it could open up the door for Gordon to get a run in the team. Portsmouth need shaking up, and an injection of youth could help them with that.
Therefore, Gordon might be the perfect player to call on at the moment, especially after his recent comments.
