Kaide Gordon to ‘explode’ for Portsmouth after ‘shy’ admission at Fratton Park

Kaide Gordon is a man on a mission at Portsmouth between now and the end of the season.

The Liverpool gem cut short his loan spell at Norwich and joined Portsmouth until the end of the season in the winter transfer window after struggling for playing time at Carrow Road.

However, things have not been too different at Fratton Park as Gordon has been restricted to just 119 minutes of playing time across five appearances in the Championship so far.

Gordon reveals John Mousinho message

Gordon was one of the most highly rated talents in England when Liverpool roped him in for £3million from Derby County in 2021 but was stopped in his tracks by a long-term injury in 2023.

The attacker is determined to get his career back on track, although the lack of playing time at both Norwich and Portsmouth have not helped his cause.

With Pompey yet to secure their Championship status, John Mousinho is seemingly reluctant to let him loose at Fratton Park.

However, Gordon recently revealed that Mousinho has instructed him not to be ‘shy’ when he is on the ball, meaning he has the freedom to express himself in possession.

For those not aware of the 20-year-old, he boasts immense ability on the ball and it is only a matter of time before he leaves defenders bamboozled.

It is evident that he is short of confidence, which is something Mousinho can certainly help improve.

Mousinho to unleash Gordon at Portsmouth

Gordon’s best performance for Portsmouth came in the 1-0 defeat against Luton on 1 March when he came on as a substitute at the start of the second half.

That was the most amount of time he played for Pompey in a single game.

Therefore, the only way for Mousinho to get the best out of Gordon is to give him more playing time and the player will definitely be determined to grab the chance with both hands.

With only eight games left to play in the Championship, the youngster will be keen to end the season on a high and prove to Liverpool that he still has a future at Anfield.

That is why it will not be a surprise if he explodes at Fratton Park between now and the end of the season.
