Portsmouth Championship relegation chances predicted by supercomputer
Portsmouth have eight games left in the Championship as they look to survive relegation to League One.
Pompey are four points ahead of 22nd-place Derby County after losing 2-1 to Preston North End at Deepdale on 15 March.
John Mousinho is aiming for Championship survival after dragging Portsmouth out of the relegation zone.
The Hampshire outfit have some tough fixtures coming up after the international break, and their final position in the league table has been predicted.

Championship survival predicted for Portsmouth
Portsmouth are expected to finish a place below their current position in 18th at the end of the Championship campaign, according to Opta Analyst.
The supercomputer predicts (25 March) Pompey have the highest chance of finishing 18th at 16.6 per cent, while a 17th-place finish has a 15.7 per cent chance.
Championship table (2024/25) | Points |
17. Portsmouth | 42 |
18. Oxford United | 42 |
19. Hull City | 41 |
20. Stoke City | 39 |
21. Cardiff City | 39 |
22. Derby County | 38 |
23. Luton Town | 35 |
24. Plymouth | 33 |
Mousinho’s team have also been given a mere 5.5 per cent chance of being relegated to League One from the position they are currently in.
Plymouth Argyle and Luton Town are favourites to go down, while Derby, Cardiff, Stoke and Oxford United have more chances of dropping to League One than Portsmouth.

Mousinho has built platform at Fratton Park for Championship survival
Portsmouth feared the worst under Mousinho at the start of the season after winning just two of their opening 15 fixtures in the league.
Pompey were on an impressive run as they beat Leeds United 1-0 at Elland Road on 9 March, but have faltered since then.
Losses to Plymouth and Preston have led to nervousness among the fanbase, as another slip-up could see Portsmouth get closer to Championship relegation.
The international break came at the right time for Mousinho, as he now has time to rethink his approach for the upcoming matches.
Pompey will face Blackburn Rovers on their return to league action on 29 March at Fratton Park.
The Hampshire outfit will have the edge at home, but supporters could add to the players’ nerves if they go behind early on against Valerien Ismael’s team.
Mousinho will have confidence in Portsmouth, though, as they have overcome many obstacles to be where they are right now.
