Jamie Carragher predicts Portsmouth v Blackburn Rovers scoreline

Jamie Carragher has predicted the scoreline as Portsmouth face Blackburn Rovers at Fratton Park on Saturday.

Pompey are coming off a loss to Preston, as John Mousinho’s team dropped three important points at Deepdale in the 2-1 defeat before the international break.

Portsmouth are in the Championship relegation battle and need every point they can get in the final eight league games of the season.

The Rovers are gunning for a play-offs spot and will be looking to sour the mood around Fratton Park on their visit on 29 March.

Mousinho needs win over Blackburn

Mousinho will need a win over Blackburn to settle the nerves at Fratton Park on Saturday.

Portsmouth have shown recently they can beat the best teams in the Championship after going to Elland Road and getting the better of Leeds United.

The English manager will be hoping for a similar performance from his players after the long international break.

Pompey have been impressive in the current campaign, as not many expected to survive the drop after winning promotion from League One.

Mousinho deserves massive credit for what he’s done at the Hampshire outfit, and retaining their Championship status will undoubtedly be a feather in the English manager’s cap.

Portsmouth have made several additions to their squad in the recent transfer windows and will need to remain in the second division of English football to keep their best players potentially.

Returning to League One will undoubtedly seep the morale around Fratton Park after spending several years climbing the lower divisions.

Fans will hope for more than a point when Blackburn face Pompey.
