Mousinho shares injury update on Kusini Yengi ahead of Portsmouth v Blackburn
Kusini Yengi has had plenty of injury issues to contend with at Portsmouth this season.
The Australia striker has had to endure a frustrating amount of time on the sidelines that has restricted him to just 11 Championship appearances this season and only four starts.
His latest lack of luck on the injury front occurred while on international duty with Australia, with Yengi flying home early to Fratton Park.
And an update on the 26-year-old has now been provided by John Mousinho prior to Saturday’s (29 March) encounter against Blackburn Rovers at Fratton Park.

Mousinho confirms extent of Yungi injury
With Pompey losing their last games before the international break to Plymouth Argyle and Preston, there is a desperate desire to get back on track against Rovers.
Portsmouth’s cushion to the bottom three has been cut to just four points as a result of those defeats and Mousinho will want as many options at his disposal for the run-in.

Yengi is set to miss out against Blackburn this week but it looks as though his latest setback is not going to be as bad as first feared with the Australia international sustaining a “slight hamstring strain”.
In quotes reported by Portsmouth’s official website (28 March), Mousinho said “It was more of a precaution. He’s got a slight hamstring strain that shouldn’t keep him out for more than 10 days.”

Is Yengi’s future at Portsmouth in jeopardy after a challenging season?
Yengi’s journey at Pompey has been one of highs and lows, as he has struggled to replicate the form that made him a key figure in the club’s promotion from League One.
After scoring 13 goals last season, including a memorable match-winner at Peterborough, Yengi has only found the net twice this season and has faced multiple injury setbacks, missing 27 matches.
His recent performances, including a disappointing start against Preston North End, have failed to impress, leaving many questioning his ability to perform consistently at Championship level.
Despite this, Mousinho has remained patient, acknowledging the challenges of reintegrating Yengi after prolonged absences.
While his international form has been more promising, scoring six goals in seven appearances for Australia, his future at Pompey remains uncertain.
With his contract expiring this summer, Yengi must show significant improvement to secure a longer stay at Fratton Park.
