Josh Murphy makes ‘Horrible’ Portsmouth admission after win v Blackburn
Portsmouth beat Blackburn 1-0 on Saturday, thanks to Josh Murphy’s solitary goal in the first half.
John Mousinho’s men are now seven points clear of the relegation zone with just seven games remaining in the Championship.
The Fratton Park club were left looking nervously over their shoulders courtesy of back-to-back defeats to Plymouth and Preston ahead of the international break.
But Mousinho and Co. now look set to enjoy another season in the second tier next term after winning the League One title last campaign.

Murphy admits Portsmouth’s win v Blackburn was ‘horrible’
Murphy once again had the decisive say on Saturday afternoon by scoring the goal which handed the Hampshire outfit their 1-0 win over Blackburn.
But after the match, he told BBC Radio Solent [29 March]: “It was a horrible game of football to play in, so I can’t imagine what it was like to watch.”
Portsmouth may not have put in a scintillating performance against Blackburn, but fans will be far more concerned by the fact that they managed to win the game.

Murphy has been a brilliant acquisition for Portsmouth
Mousinho and the Blues will be incredibly grateful that they decided to sign Murphy from Oxford last summer, as he has proven himself as a real asset for the Fratton Park side at Championship level.

Oxford were promoted from League One to the second tier alongside Portsmouth last season, and Murphy was key to those efforts as he bagged a brace in his former club’s playoff final victory over Bolton last May.
The ex-Norwich man has notched seven goals and 10 assists for Pompey in the league this season, which has played a crucial role as Mousinho’s men strive to avoid the drop.
He has produced the same number of goal contributions in the Championship as Josh Brownhill, who has scored 13 times for automatic promotion challengers Burnley.
Murphy is the joint-second highest assist maker in the second tier, which exemplifies just how much of a strong asset he has been for Pompey.
