Portsmouth make official announcement ahead of Norwich City clash

Portsmouth have made an official statement regarding the upcoming fixture against Norwich City.

Pompey are still fighting for their survival in the second tier of English football, and every single match is going to matter for John Mousinho’s men.

That includes their upcoming trip away at Norwich, where they will face the Canaries on Good Friday, April 18, in the Championship.

The two teams battled out to a goalless draw when they met back in December at Fratton Park, with neither side being able to create any impact.

However, with the Championship season drawing to a close, every point now means even more, placing additional pressure on the Blues for this fixture.

Portsmouth need all the support possible

Mousinho will be hopeful that Portsmouth can sell out their allocation in order for Portsmouth to have as much of their support as possible.

Pompey are currently 17th in the Championship, but with just seven points between them and the relegation zone there isn’t much margin for error.

It’s going to place a lot of pressure on each Portsmouth performance as they look to retain their status as a Championship side, despite having the smallest budget in the league.

On the other hand, Norwich are pushing for promotion to the Premier League and are aiming to make a late surge to earn a playoff spot.

The Canaries are currently five points away from that, which is a gap that they could end up shrinking by the time that the teams meet at Carrow Road.
