Pompey may miss out on Adil Aouchiche deal with Sunderland

Portsmouth face a potential setback as loanee Adil Aouchiche, who has been a useful asset, may return to Sunderland in the summer.

The Black Cats could recall Aouchiche to replace the outgoing Chris Rigg, who is linked with a £40 million move to the Premier League, per Alan Nixon.

This development forces Pompey to explore new transfer options to strengthen their squad for the next season, targeting players of similar quality to build on their survival in the second tier.

John Mousinho issues an update on Conor Shaughnessy and Rob Atkinson

Portsmouth’s 1-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers has extended their safety margin from the Championship relegation zone to seven points, despite a lack of depth at centre-back, forcing John Mousinho to deploy a makeshift pairing of left-back Connor Ogilvie and Regan Poole.

The team has been without key defenders Conor Shaughnessy, sidelined for seven games with a hamstring injury and Rob Atkinson, absent for five matches due to a calf issue, with emergency signing Alexander Milosevic only fit enough for the bench.

Mousinho provided a positive update, confirming that both Shaughnessy and Atkinson are back on the grass and nearing the end of their rehabilitation, offering a timely boost to the squad.
