Millwall v Portsmouth result predicted by supercomputer

Portsmouth will be hoping to make it back-to-back wins when they travel to face Millwall on Saturday.

Pompey will travel to The Den on 5 April, a week after their all-important 1-0 win against Blackburn Rovers at Fratton Park.

This leaves the south coast outfit seven points clear of the bottom three, with another three points likely to be enough to guarantee survival.

With that being said, Alex Neil’s side will be keen to secure a win of their own as the Lions look to end the season on a positive note.

Portsmouth learn likelihood of win v Millwall

The Den is not an easy place to go for any side, with the South-East Londoners losing just one of their last five home matches in the league.

Neil won’t want that to change anytime soon, especially after a defeat against Sunderland last time out at the Stadium of Light.

John Mousinho will also be intent on kickstarting a positive run of form by securing back-to-back wins for just the third time this season.

That won’t be easy for Pompey, and that has been backed up by the Opta supercomputer (1 March,) who has backed the home side to win at The Den.

Millwall have been afforded a 50.2 chance of securing three points in the capital that could send them as high as ninth in the Championship.

By comparison, the Blues’ likelihood of a win against the Lions comes in at just 24.6 per cent, with a draw more likely at 25.2 per cent, according to the supercomputer.

If Mousinho’s men were to fall to defeat, as predicted, they would be left with 45 points and the potential to fall as low as 19th in the second tier.

Portsmouth win v Millwall could guarantee safety

Ahead of the season, surviving in the Championshop would have been the one and only goal for everyone associated with the club in PO4.

A win against Millwall could complete that goal with six games to spare in what would be a near-perfect year for everyone at Fratton Park.

Mousinho will need the likes of Colby Bishop and Josh Murphy to step up and prove their worth at The Den to bring home a huge three points.

It will be interesting to see how the result pans out in London, but there is no doubt that one side needs it more than the other right now.
