Portsmouth ‘may have Callum Lang concern’ despite injury status

Callum Lang is sidelined for the remainder of the season at Portsmouth, though they may still need to address one concern.

As of right now, Portsmouth will be fully focused on securing Championship survival ahead of the final seven games of the campaign.

Players like Josh Murphy and Adil Aouchiche have a crucial role to play for the Blues, though Lang has already had his say in the season.

The 26-year-old, despite having been out injured since the middle of February, has 12 goal contributions this season, which will have caught the attention of people all over the country, some of which could be likely to inflict damage on Portsmouth in the summer.

Lang may be of interest to clubs this summer

Prior to his injury, Lang was arguably the most important player for Portsmouth and had one of the best goal contributions to games ratios in the Championship.

His injury was a huge blow to Pompey, but unless they are careful, it may not be the only blow they receive this summer in regards to the attacking outlet.

Especially those at the top end of the Championship, teams will undoubtedly be aware of the quality he had showcased earlier in the season, and may target him in the summer once he returns to fitness.

Portsmouth, unless they were to receive an astronomical transfer fee, cannot afford to lose him in the transfer window.

John Mousinho has done an excellent job this season, and he will need to be provided with the tools to progress even further in the next campaign.

Portsmouth success could be their own downfall

If Portsmouth are successful in their bid to achieve Championship safety, it would be an excellent achievement, and a showcase of the quality they have in the squad.

But with success comes attention, and there will undoubtedly be a lot of the latter when it comes to the transfer window in the summer.

It has been a good couple of seasons for Pompey, and they simply can’t allow that progress to be halted through a player exit in the summer.
