Portsmouth ‘must refrain from making £364k error’ this summer
Portsmouth will have a lot of work to do in the summer transfer window to continue their progression under John Mousinho.
As of right now, Portsmouth’s only focus will be on securing safety in the Championship, though with only seven games to go, it is looking increasingly likely that it will be achieved sooner rather than later.
Once their Championship status is secured, attention will quickly turn to the summer transfer window, where reinforcements will be needed alongside decisions on those currently at the club.

Adil Aouchiche failing to live up to expectations at Portsmouth
Adil Aouchiche is a name synonymous with those who have ever experienced Football Manager, and the reason behind that is the amount of potential he showcased from a young age.
However, that potential hasn’t been lived up to, with his move to Sunderland not going as planned before his loan to Portsmouth, where Aouchiche hasn’t exactly set the world alight.
Portsmouth | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
Aouchiche | 9 | 1 | 0 |
There have been flashes of brilliance, but the overwhelming majority of his time at Fratton Park so far he has been a passenger, and one that Pompey need to steer clear of this summer.
Not even taking his transfer fee into account, Portsmouth would have to offer him upwards of £7,000 per week, which is his current wage on Wearside [Capology], which would see the Frenchman cost the Blues a whopping £364,000 per year.
Given his return so far, it simply wouldn’t be worth it for Pompey who will need to look elsewhere for attacking reinforcements this summer.

John Mousinho will only have one focus at Portsmouth
Summer business will be crucial for Portsmouth, though at this stage in the season, it is somewhat irrelevant given they aren’t fully aware as to which division they will be playing in.
Championship safety looks likely for Portsmouth, but until it’s confirmed, everyone will be fully focused on making that happen as we approach the final seven games of the season.
