Connor Ogilvie picks out ‘amazing’ Portsmouth star ahead of Millwall clash
Portsmouth boosted their chances of Championship survival on Saturday with a 1-0 win against Blackburn Rovers.
The three points have put Pompey seven clear of the relegation zone now, even though they remain 17th in the Championship table.
It was Josh Murphy who proved to be the difference for Portsmouth, scoring the winner early on.

Connor Ogilvie backs Murphy against Millwall
After making the move to Fratton Park in the summer transfer window, Murphy has had an excellent debut season on the South Coast.
The winger has been a regular part of the team, making 35 Championship appearances with goals and assists on the board to contribute to his side’s efforts.
Appearances | Goals | Assists |
35 | 7 | 10 |
Whichever league Pompey find themselves in next term, it is likely that Murphy will continue to be a core part of the squad as a shining light.
As Portsmouth prepare to head to Millwall on Saturday (5 April), the pressure will be on to create a run of victories after showing inconsistency this season.
Connor Ogilvie has backed Murphy to make the difference in London, telling BBC Sounds (2 April): “I think any full-back against him, it’s a tough day for them.
“He’s so good. He’s been amazing this year. I think we saw it in training in pre-season how good he was.
“He’s just so fast, so powerful and he can go either way so you can show him outside and he’ll go on the outside and beat you or he can go on the inside like he did and put it in the top corner so it’s either or, you can’t really work out what to do.”

Portsmouth need another three points on the board
John Mousinho’s side are showing that they won’t be prepared to go down without a fight this season.
It may have been a scrappy victory against a Blackburn side in poor form, but you can only beat what’s in front of you and getting three points on the board is what matters.
However, it does mean that a trip to London will be a big test and Pompey will have to use their confidence to create some momentum and build on the victory.
Murphy has shown he can be lethal and, as his teammates point out, he can be a nightmare to face, meaning he needs to be on top form yet again.
Given how tight it is at the bottom, the South Coast outfit have to keep going with maximum intensity until they are mathematically safe from a drop back to League One.
