Millwall v Portsmouth: 14 players could miss clash at The Den in latest team news

Portsmouth’s upcoming clash against Millwall could see up to 14 players missing as both sides are being ravaged by injuries.

Pompey are aiming to keep pushing away from the relegation zone when they travel to London on Saturday (5 April) as they currently sit seven points above the bottom three.

That gap could be reduced if Derby win their game in hand, but Pompey will simply be focusing on themselves and the fixtures ahead of them.

John Mousinho’s men head into the game at The Den full of confidence after defeating Blackburn Rovers 1-0 in their last outing, with Josh Murphy scoring the only goal of the game.

However, the Blues boss is having to contend with a variety of injuries, which will end up impacting his team selection.

Portsmouth have injuries to deal with

Kusini Yengi picked up an injury during the international break while he represented Australia, and that led to the winger missing the Blackburn game. He is now rated 50/50 heading into this one as he has been back training this week.

Ibane Bowat isn’t going to be playing again this season due to the severity of the knee injury he suffered back in September, while Jacob Farrell is another long-term problem for the Blues.

Callum Lang is also out of action for the remainder of the season, but Conor Shaughnessy is progressing well with his hamstring recovery and could be back in the near future, but this game will be too soon.

Rob Atkinson is only a few weeks behind him in terms of recovery as the Bristol City loanee looks to feature at least one more time for Pompey.

Millwall also have injury problems

The fitness issues aren’t restricted to Pompey though as there are doubts over whether or not George Honeyman will be fit enough to play for the home side.

Femi Azeez and Camiel Neghli are both confirmed to be missing, with both me potentially only making it back for the final few games of the season.

Danny McNamara is someone who definitely won’t play again in this campaign after undergoing ankle surgery, while Callum Scanlon is also not fit enough to feature.

Finally, Millwall will also be without Liam Roberts as the goalkeeper remains suspended after his horror tackle on Jean-Phillipe Mateta, with this being the last of his six game ban.
