Mousinho makes new admission over uncertain Kamara future at Portsmouth
Abdoulaye Kamara has struggled to make an impression at Portsmouth this season.
The former Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund youth product has not featured in the last 15 matchday squad for John Mousinho‘s side.
His last appearance for Pompey was in the 2-0 FA Cup third-round loss to Wycombe (10 January) and he put in a poor display on that occasion.
The Guinean was handed a four-year contract when he signed for the Fratton Park outfit last summer and the Championship club may not move on just yet.

Mousinho does not want to sell Kamara
Despite Kamara’s struggles at Portsmouth so far, Mousinho does not intend to allow the 20-year-old to leave in the summer.
The Pompey ace has made just six appearances in the league and Mousinho has explained the reason behind the lack of games.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference (4 April), he said: “It’s nothing we’re thinking about now.
“Abdou is a young player, so in terms of his Portsmouth development we didn’t expect him to play 30 games this season.
“He would’ve liked to play a bit more than he has, but there’s no rush on Abdou.”

Kamara still has a future at Portsmouth
There was a significant amount of hype around the young midfielder when he impressed off the bench against Sunderland in August.
However, he has not been allowed to kick on due to the circumstances of a testing season, in which Pompey have found themselves in a relegation battle for the majority of the campaign.
| Championship | Played | GD | Points |
| 17. Portsmouth | 39 | -14 | 45 |
| 18. Stoke | 39 | -12 | 42 |
| 19. Oxford United | 39 | -17 | 42 |
| 20. Derby | 39 | -9 | 41 |
| 21. Hull | 39 | -9 | 41 |
| 22. Cardiff | 39 | -20 | 40 |
With Mousinho’s side sitting just five points above the drop zone with seven matches left to play, it is unlikely that Kamara will be handed a chance in the final few weeks of the season as their safety is not guarenteed.
The year-old will persist with a midfield that has significant experience in English football to ensure that his side can get over the line and secure their second tier status.
Kamara should not worry too much about his lack of playing time, Mousinho has made it clear that he is in his long-term plans, barring something crazy happening and he will likely be used more when he has fully adapted to the Championship.
It makes no sense to throw an untested young player in at such a crucial juncture, when it could define which league that the club are playing in next season.
