Dozzell MOTM as 3/10 teammate shocking – Portsmouth player ratings v Millwall

Portsmouth continued their uninspiring away form on Saturday as they went down 2-1 to Millwall at The Den in the Championship.

Pompey have won just twice on the road this season and that dismal record continues with the narrow loss, as Millwall beat the Blues (5 April) for the third time in all competitions in 2024-25.

Mihailo Ivanovic’s double separated the sides despite Andre Dozzell‘s leveller, as Pompey look to respond in a tricky test at Coventry City in midweek.

Portsmouth player ratings v Millwall

Nicolas Schmid – 5

Didn’t do anything particularly wrong but will be irritated with his defence for their lack of aerial presence.

Jordan Williams (off for Christian Saydee 69′) – 4

Between he and Poole, let Ivanovic get between them and rise highest for the first goal. Nice to see him back for Portsmouth, however, and hopefully can make an impact before the end of the season.

Regan Poole – 3

Again, culpable like Williams for the opening goal, not close enough to the Millwall striker.

Connor Ogilvie – 6

Has been excellent in recent weeks and much improved, and was probably one of the better of a poor Pompey side here. Made blocks where needed and was organised enough. Still however part of a defence at huge fault.

Cohen Bramall (off for Marlon Pack 70′) – 3

Usually increasingly reliable for the Blues but had a disappointing game at The Den. One of several who risks being dropped at Coventry.

Devlin and Bramall struggle, Dozzell grabs goal

Andre Dozzell – 7

Got what briefly appeared a vital goal. Did a decent enough job in midfield, kept the play going and was not at fault for anything that went wrong.

Freddie Potts – 5

Nothing particular of note from him, though continues to justify his place as first-choice alongside Dozzell.

Matt Ritchie (off for Harvey Blair 69′) – 4

Had the best Pompey chance other than the goal, striking the post when he should have hit the target. Nothing else really came off for him.

Terry Devlin (off for Thomas Waddingham 90′) – 3

By his usual standards that he deserves immense credit for this season, struggled to find a teammate with his distribution and was ineffective in the 10 role at The Den.

The gap is now just four points again, with six games to go

Josh Murphy – 3

Very quiet by his high standards, was barely involved and seems to be a much better performer – like most – at Fratton Park.

Colby Bishop – 4

Had little service, did carve out one chance in the first half which Millwall dealt with.

Substitutes

Harvey Blair (on for Matt Ritchie 69′) – 5

Encouraging when he came on, getting on the ball out wide as much as possible. Was however dispossessed for the late winner, foul debatable. Mousinho interestingly preferred he and Saydee to Adil Aouchiche to be brought on.

Christian Saydee (on for Cohen Bramall 69′) – 4

Barely touched the ball when he came on.

Marlon Pack (on for Jordan Williams 70′) – 4

Was beaten in the air by Ivanovic after having made a few key clearances at 1-1. Alex Milosevic was there on the bench to be used.

Thomas Waddingham (on for Terry Devlin 90′) – N/A

Another cameo appearance for the young Aussie’s record.
