Mousinho rages over Millwall fan incident v Portsmouth – ‘I saw it with my own eyes’

Portsmouth’s hopes of achieving Championship survival took a hit when they lost 2-1 to Millwall at The Den on Saturday.

Millwall took the lead through Mihailo Ivanovic before Andre Dozell restored parity for the Blues with just 10 minutes left to play.

However, Ivanovic bagged his brace in the dying embers of the game to ensure that the Lions defeated John Mousinho’s men.

Pompey are now just four points above the relegation zone after 22nd-place Cardiff earned a 0-0 draw with QPR.

Mousinho calls for action in allegation against Millwall supporters

Mousinho was furious after the defeat for an alleged incident in the stands.

The Pompey boss was quoted by The News as saying: “The reason I spoke to the ref was there was discriminatory language coming from behind the dugout.

“The second time I reported it to the fourth official, and it kept happening. I don’t know if we want to take discrimination seriously or not; the response there wasn’t serious, it was a joke.

“Not from the officials, by the way, they did their job. I think we just pay lip service to it and do nice videos and that’s it.

“I’ve come across it very rarely in football. What’s the point? No one does anything about it, so what’s the point? I have seen it with my own eyes today. I reported it, no one did anything about it. It kept happening, kept happening, kept happening.

“It’s as simple as I can make it.”

Portsmouth must get back to winning ways

Pompey have a margin of four points and four teams between themselves and the Championship relegation zone, which is a healthy gap for now.

However, there are still six games left to play in the second-tier season, which will be sure to provide twists and turns along the way that could potentially spell trouble for Portsmouth.

With the objective of survival in mind, Mousinho’s men must get back to winning ways as soon as possible, but face a potentially tricky task on Wednesday 9 April, as they take on Coventry, who still sit just one point outside the playoffs despite losing 2-1 to Burnley on Saturday.

Frank Lampard’s Sky Blues will be determined to turn things around and will view Pompey as the sort of opposition that they have to beat to land a top-six spot.

Meanwhile, all three teams currently in the relegation zone earned points on Saturday, with Plymouth beating Norwich and Luton drawing with Leeds.
